Optimized Licensing Blueprint

Microsoft license optimization that starts with what you actually use

Most organizations pay for licenses that no one uses, while simultaneously missing out on rights they already possess. This is rarely due to poor management, but rather because licensing agreements, actual usage, and organizational change never keep pace. We compare these three factors and translate the difference into a licensing structure that aligns with reality.

WHAT DOES THE SERVICE ENTAIL?

Five parts, one outcome

Complete inventory

Installed software, cloud usage, and assigned subscriptions per user, per department, per environment.

Determining your acquired rights

What has actually been purchased, what falls under Software Assurance, and which rights are lying unused.

Reconciliation to an Effective License Position

The formal overview of usage versus rights, in a form that also stands up in an audit.

Optimization proposal per user profile

Which users can switch to a lighter profile, which overlapping tools can be removed, which rights are not used.

Implementation plan with prioritization

Quick wins that take effect within a month, separated from structural changes that align with the contract cycle.

INDEPENDENT

We do not sell licenses and receive no commission from Microsoft or resellers. Advising you to purchase less costs us nothing

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What people ask us.

What exactly is license optimization?

License optimization involves aligning your software licenses with actual usage within your organization. You map out which licenses are assigned, which are actually being used, and which rights you already possess. You translate the difference between these into an adjusted license structure: less over-licensing, no under-licensing, and no duplicate functionality.

What is an Effective License Position (ELP)?

An ELP is the formal overview in which your usage and your acquired license rights are compared. It shows, for each product, whether you have too many, too few, or exactly enough licenses. Microsoft requests this overview during an audit, but it is primarily your own basis for negotiation: without an ELP, you are discussing the numbers provided by the supplier.

Do you also sell licenses?

No. Geltec does not sell licenses and receives no commission from Microsoft or resellers. Our invoice is the only revenue stream we earn from your contract. Consequently, there is no commercial interest whatsoever in a higher number of licenses. Advising you to purchase fewer licenses costs us nothing.

What is the average return on license optimization?

In practice, organizations realize savings of 10 to 25% on their Microsoft licensing costs, depending on size, contract type, and how long it has been since optimization.

Is this a one-time service?

Yes, the Optimised Licensing Solution is a one-time project. If you want your licensing position to remain continuously optimized, take a look at Continuous Optimisation or our Managed Services.

Do you also work for organizations outside the Netherlands?

Yes. We support organizations in the Benelux and internationally, in Dutch and English.
